The
Emir of Ilorin and Chairman of Kwara State Council of Traditional
Rulers, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, yesterday denied endorsing any
candidate for the 2015 election in the state.
The denial came against the backdrop of an online report, which
suggested that the emir endorsed the governorship candidate of the
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Simeon Ajibola, for the 2015
election.
It would be recalled that Ajibola on Saturday paid homage to the emir on his arrival to the state as the PDP gubernatorial flag bearer. The visit turned into a carnival of sorts as the governorship candidate’s supporters thronged the palace of the emir.
Condemning the report in its entirety, the emir, through his spokesman and Mogaji Nda of Ilorin, Alhaji Salihu Mohammed, said the fact he hosted Ajibola at his palace was not an indication of his endorsement, insisting that as a father to all, he remained neutral in the political contests in the state.
