Dortmund are a reference for Marseille, says Mandanda

The OM shotstopper says BVB and his club are similar in trying to compete with the best without spending fortunes on the transfer marketSteve Mandanda says Borussia Dortmund are a reference for Olympique Marseille when it comes to getting the most out of the team without spending huge amounts of money.

The German giants reached the final of last season's Champions League, defeating the big-spending powers of Manchester City and Real Madrid on the way.

And, according to the France international keeper, OM president Vincent Labrune has told his side to take note of Jurgen Klopp's men's progress.

"Labrune has referenced Dortmund to us. Like us, they do not spend great amounts of money," the 28-year-old told a press conference.

BVB trashed Freiburg 5-0 on Saturday and Mandanda feels their good form makes them an even tougher opponent when they clash on Tuesday.

"From the draw, we knew it would be complicated and it is even more so today after their five goals on Saturday.

"However, we are competitors, so we want to win."
